These Bell HS students were smiling – school’s out soon and they’ve scored decent summer jobs. The guy on the left will be working at Staples.
Miki’s has successfully fended off the Grazie! challenge – being closest to Bell HS has its advantages.
The Bells Corners McDo is catering to soccer fans.
McDo has the best marketing people, so they’re kicking butt in the fight for your consumer dollars. But the little guys at the Brew Table, the Bohemian Kitchen, the Indian Superstore and the South Beach creamy trailer are fighting back.
Not often that a huge chain uses homemade signs – I wonder how much the botched intersection fiasco cost local businesses in lost sales.
The People’s Park project is slowly moving forward.
Will the councillor be back for another photo op?
The Giant Tiger plaza is looking good – these guys know what they’re doing.
Too bad there’s no place to park a bike, and that DVD redbox really clutters up the already narrow “sidewalk.”
Do you recognize this guy? He’s probably the biggest celebrity living in Bells Corners next to Rick.
His house is famous too – Bill Teron himself used to live there!
I’m trying to convince him to bring his jaw-dropping inventions to the Oct. 18 Bells Corners ECO-Fair.
Anti-Catholic graffiti and a stolen tabernacle, stupid vandalism at the mosque – sad.
The litter’s bad enough, but note the shards of glass from a broken beer bottle – perfect for cutting flesh and puncturing tires.
Jeez! Nice work, dolts!
These new immigrants to Lynwood Village were disappointed to learn that they had missed the fun in Lynwood Park – they hadn’t noticed the signs, they don’t do Facebook and they’re not friends of the Coffee & Company/yoga people who control the community association.
If you put it up you should take it down after the event. Please clean up after yourselves!
Did you know that the zoning along the strip is about to be changed to allow taller buildings? Did Rick forget to mention it to you?
If you want the details you could show up at Centrepointe today (next to Mary Pitt Palace) between 4:00 and 8:00 p.m.
It’s a chance to get Betty Nukem’s autograph and Rick will probably be bringing doughnuts.
Bike-taxi in People’s Park
Lots of fun at the Co-op Carnival
The food was great: chili, shopsies on the grill, homemade beans, bake table – everything for two tickets ($1).
All the cool games were one ticket – bike-taxi rides cost zero tickets (I’m NOT allowed ANY form of remuneration to maintain my not-for-profit status and dodge the bureaucrats, so I hate it when customers try to tip me).
Buskers were on hand to amuse visitors and the bingo game drew a huge crowd.
Amazing what you can get done when everyone chips in – you don’t need a huge budget or expensive attractions to run a community event if you have enough enthusiastic people.
Good advertising is key – this Virgil event did a good job.
Getting the Bosnian dancers involved is a great way to liven up an event.
Sponsors can help finance expensive attractions.
I don’t often transport FOUR passengers at a time. 🙂
The Batboy enjoyed his spine-tingling ride.
The $1100 bill for the bouncy castle was funded by a local real estate agent/LVCA board member.
Rick’s employee worked her latex magic while helping Rick troll for votes.
Rick schmoozed with the Alterna sponsors – they gave out free sno-cones and ran games for the sparse crowd. They did an awesome job so I’m thinking of switching my banking to the Bells Corners branch.
Some driveway sealing “contractors” are scammers, but this amazing guy from Tunisia is the real deal!
