Most Quebeckers favour the charter of values and a ban on ostentatious religious symbols in the public workforce.

You’d get a different result if you put the question this way:

It costs around $150 a month to rent one of these beauties, plus another hundred bucks for the City.

A kid waving a sign at minimum wage can be more cost-effective: no monthly fees to the City and some local employment is generated.

That last PM poll shows exactly what is wrong with our system… if that was the election Harper could still win (like last time) despite the majority not wanting him.

Until the system is fixed, by way of ranked ballots, I suggest everyone pay very close attention to riding polling numbers leading up to election and consider voting strategically even if it’s not your #1 choice.

First-past-the-post has gone on for 30+ years so it’s nothing new. 70% of the country doesn’t support the NDP yet they’re still the second party.

    – A poll conducted Jan. 14-18 suggests the Liberals have slightly increased their margin over the Conservatives since the end of October when Harper was being hounded over the Senate scandal.

The Grits stood at 34%, a one-point hike, while the Conservatives dropped five points to 28% since last fall.

The NDP saw its support nudge up two points to 24%, while the Greens and the separatist Bloc Quebecois were at 7% and 5% respectively.
