school report card 2

The marks are in for Bells Corners schools: Franco-Ouest in first, followed by Bell and St. Paul’s.
Last year Franco-Ouest had the best local results on the Ontario government’s standardized tests, and its lead has increased even more this year. In 2010 Franco-Ouest and Bell were tied for first place.
This does NOT mean that St. Paul is an inferior school. Criticisms of the school report card centre on its use of standardized testing in reading and math, which leaves out other important factors such as physical education, critical thinking skills, extracurricular activities and technical skills, among other things.
The Bells Corners public school trustee lambasted school ranking.
“They’re seen as incredibly biased and destructive,” said OCDSB trustee Pam FitzGerald, who argues the rankings don’t take into account which schools have more kids living in poverty, have special needs or are in English as a Second Language (ESL) because they’re immigrants or refugees.
Bell H.S. is ranked #324 out of 740 Ontario high schools with a score of 6.5/10
St. Paul’s is #421 with a grade of 5.9/10.
Franco-Ouest is #87, 7.8/10.

These ladies were happy that the Lynwood rink is still open.
They brought some shovels and pushed the snow to the side for the ringette game.
Meanwhile Allan was labouring away at Westcliffe, whistling while he worked.
After shovelling he brought out the blower to lift the snow over the boards.
The ice was fantastic!
