Last day open in 2017 (Aug. 20).

Entrance Pool 2013
The guy in charge is a lifeguard from Walter Baker – he’s a strong leader and has an excellent team, so it looks like it’s going to a great season at our local public pool.

Citizens are fined by the City if they don’t clean up graffiti on their property. Should the City fine itself for not dealing with this vandalism? It’s been there a long time.

More ugly tags.

It’s a lot cheaper if you buy a membership (for example, $34.25 a season for a child/youth/student/senior).

Whatever happened to adult swimming at night?
We old fogies like to swim too. After all we are paying the taxes for it!
    Only two problems though.
The high incidence of eye, nose, throat and ear infections!
They figure if they dump in tons of chlorine, for the kiddies who piss and defecate in the pool, it will solve the problem!
    Not!
A lot of people are allergic to chlorine!
Kiddies should go #’s 1&2 BEFORE they go there. Parents wake up!

wasani posted here to admonish (in very strong terms!) wookie for his comments.

Sorry, wasani, but I’m going to have to censor your comments because they don’t conform to the rules spelled out on the about page.

Please feel free to tone it down a bit and post again.

I agree that wookie’s comments are borderline and would be offensive to some people, maybe even to me. I did consider editing them further or even censoring them.

But my goal is for this blog to be open to all points of view. Anyone can post whatever they want here, even if I don’t agree with you. You can be anonymous if you want. I won’t censor anything unless it “goes beyond snarky into rude.”

snarky: Craig, your blog is corrupting our youth! Please stop criticizing X – don’t you realize that you’re hurting his feelings? ALLOWED

rude: Craig, you’re (to quote Jason Kenney) an asshole! CENSORED

Can you imagine Rick allowing taxpayers to post dissenting views (even polite and reasoned dissenting views) on HIS taxpayer-funded website?

The WECA and LVCA “official” websites do not allow comments at all – for the most part they just serve to transmit the information that the board wants you to hear.

Even their Facebook sites are tightly-controlled and censored, especially the LVCA site.

Hi, my two kids will be going there soon with their babysitter and she told me that there are swimming lessons there. I was wondering how much and how do I pay?

Wookie is only saying what people think. I often see small children in pools with diapers on. How disgusting is that?

    • Anonymous says:

Is it a swim diaper? Sounds like a lot of people need to grow up and appreciate our youth swimming rather than breaking into our cars and vandalism on our city signage.

      • Annie says:

Swim diapers are like fecal tea bags in a pool. No matter how much one might think they are sealed, one can never guarantee nothing leaks out. Kids that need diapers belong in the splash pool designed for them, not the big pool.
