What’s it like to bike in Bells Corners?
It’s amazingly good!
Sure, we’ve got the bike-unfriendly strip to contend with, but it’s been a couple of years since there’s been a serious bike/car accident there, and, if you don’t like sharing space with speeding trucks and impatient commuters from Kanata, you can always cycle along the ‘active transportation corridor’ recently ‘renovated’ by Rick for a cool million.
Bells Corners is surrounded by NCC Greenbelt trails that lead to all of Ottawa’s tourist destinations. Cycling within Bells Corners is also very pleasant, especially in Lynwood Village.
Bells Corners is a cyclist’s paradise with almost no road rage – it’s too bad that the BIA and the councillor don’t seem to realize it yet, as they kill grassroots cycling initiatives and sneer that “almost no one rides a bicycle in Bells Corners.”
Poppycock!
Bells Corners is destined to become one of Ottawa’s cycling hotspots. We’re not Montreal yet, but we’re heading in the right direction.

Thanks for posting that map of the trails! I’m bike shopping this week, and will be back to cycling by next weekend.
